With cases of Covid-19 continuing to spike in Zimbabwe, there is evidence that, among other factors, lack of awareness of the disease is contributing to the pandemic. Visual storytelling is often therefore an effective way of raising awareness on such critical issues affecting communities and the Zimbabwe Peace Project sought to produce an animation series containing two videos that encourage citizens to take strict measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and also highlight the importance of human rights during this period.

Solution

Nafuna responded to the call with a video skit in both Ndebele and Shona, the animation was packaged to raise awareness on Covid-19, not just as a disease, but as a pandemic that requires major lifestyle changes in a colloquial format relatable with the intended audiences.
